Description

The National Archives’ collection on James Scullin includes Cabinet minutes (1929–31), secret documents of the Prime Minister’s Department concerning the 1930 Imperial Conference and a report by Scullin on uniform taxation (1942–46). There are also a number of photographs of James and Sarah Scullin. Among the most interesting documents are those relating to the appointment of the first Australian-born Governor-General. The National Archives also has a substantial photographic record of the installation of the Scullin government, the first sworn in in Canberra.
