| Description | The National Library holds a rich collection including the personal papers of Alfred Deakin (MS 1540), the papers of Catherine Deakin (his sister), and of Ivy and Herbert Brookes (Deakin’s daughter and son-in-law). The papers of Edmund Barton (online), Thomas Bavin (private secretary 1903–04), and Atlee Hunt (head of the Department of External Affairs 1901–16) will also be of interest to Deakin researchers. The Library also holds the ‘letter diaries’ written by Pattie Deakin to her children in the Catherine Deakin papers, and items of relevance in the papers of her daughters Ivy Brookes and Vera White.
