| Description | Alfred Deakin was a key figure in the Federation movement and creation of Australia’s Constitution. Records in the National Film and Sound Archive’s collection include Deakin at the Federation ceremonies in Sydney in 1901 following the signing of the Federation documents. His state funeral is also well represented, and films made in the 1960s pay tribute to Deakin’s long-standing interest in irrigation, including the introduction of the first legislation in Australia to promote an irrigation system.
